Accessorizing Your Planner!
June 17 2019 – My Carpe Diem Admin
Hello sweet planner friends! It’s Kylie with you today and I thought I would share with you all some cute accessories you can make to add to your planner. They serve not only a practical purpose but they also add a lovely aesthetic pleasure to your planner. I’ve set up my beautiful A5 Blush planner for June and teamed it with the Simple Vintage Botanicals collection from Simple Stories. Together they look so pretty, a match made in planner heaven!
One of my most favourite things to do each month is to create a custom dashboard or divider. For June I have layered together some of the pretty papers and added one of the layered chipboard frames to the front. I fussy cut one of the 3 x 4 element cards to back it before adding some extra stickers and die cuts.
Before I share the cute accessories I made, here is a little look at my weekly spread before the pen. I added some reinforcement to the binder holes by using a die from my stash with some co-ordinating paper. Not only does this add beautiful colour to my pages it helps to give strength to the binder holes. Some colour co-ordinating number stickers have been added for the dates and I love embellishing my pages with die cuts and stickers.
I love making shaker cards to use in my planner. They serve as a great page marker and add lovely bursts of colour. I kept mine very simple and cut apart more of the 3 x 4 element cards. I slid them into a clear pocket page, added some pretty sequins from my stash and then machine stitched around the edge before cutting the pocket pages apart. If you don’t have a sewing machine you could use a heat seal tool or even just some washi tape to seal the pocket. I left trails of cotton on my shaker cards as I love the rustic effect.
Washi holder sampler cards are another way to add some colour and fun to your planner.I also love the practicality of being able to plan on the go without taking all of your washi rolls. I cut down some paper and added some layered die cuts to the top, before running through my laminator. Using a laminator makes the sampler card more sturdy. The shiny surface allows you to add and remove washi tape easily.
For July I also made a custom notebook. I cut down some of the A5 grid page inserts to the size I wanted and stapled the top in the centre to keep them together. Next I created a folded cover which I embellished with some die cuts and chipboard stickers.I adhered the note paper to the cover with double sided tape on the last sheet only. To finish I decorated each page with the ‘Hello’ stamp and kept it together with some organza ribbon. This will be great for jotting down shopping lists, forward planning or anything I need to remember.
The best part of the accessories I’ve created for June is that they will fit nicely in my planner pockets without being too bulky.I love all this pretty you can see when my planner is open on my desk!
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my planner blog post today and it gives you some inspiration to make your own planner accessories!
Until next time, happy planning!
Kylie.
