A Trendy Journal That You Can Take Along With You!
June 26 2019 – My Carpe Diem Admin
It's Cara here today and I wanted a journal to not only record my daily goings on, but also a place where I could put down some of my thoughts as well. I’ve seen planner girls and scrapbookers alike use traveler’s notebook inserts for memory keeping and I wanted to give it a go. I decided to choose my favourite collection, I Am. It really does make me smile every time I see it!
I chose the beautiful Staying Positive paper for my cover. The beautiful floral design is all it really needs but I did add a bit of washi along the spine to mimic a composition notebook and a label cut from the 3x4 Journaling Card Elements paper with a few stickers layered on top.
The inside cover has a flippable bike card that I cut from the same paper. I ran a piece of washi down the length of the page and then used the same washi to tpae in the pard. The recovering perfectionist in me lined up the washi, the one that is holding the card is laid perfectly over the design of the washi running the length of the page. On both sides. ;) A fussy cut heart from the 4x6 Horizontal Elements paper, a few stickers and a hand written title finish off the page.
The first spread is dedicated to a positive attitude. It was inspired by the black and white gingham rectangle sticker from the Hello Sticker Tablet that says ‘positive vibes only’. I really am a glass half full kind of girl. I added a matching flag to the top of the left pages along with a few others and a long strip of washi along the bottom. A sprinkling of stickers and hand drawn lines complete these positive pages.
The next spread is the first actual diary-type entry. I broke up the day into different activities, writing one on the left page, a second on the right and a third in the label card from the 4x6 Horizontal Elements cut-apart sheet. I never seem to be able to use a card without cutting it up! Then, two beautiful floral stickers are all this spread needs to look fantastic. These florals have stolen my heart.
Next up is another journal type spread. I have quotes on the left and my thoughts on the right. In the middle is a flap made from two cards (un cut and whole!!) stuck back to back and then washi-ed in. I only put washi on the back this time so not to cover the floral card, but I did use the matching washi. This has been holding on well even with washi only on one side. The Carpe Diem washi really is fabulous. If you make a mistake when you lay it down, you can pull it back up and replace it without ripping your paper, but when you need it to stick, it holds on! I used a tab for easy flipping, a strip of left over paper from the cover as a border on the left and label stickers and boxes to write mini motivations.
The last spread that I have completed so far, has absolutely no layers or clusters and none of the stickers are touching! That's so unlike me, I think this may be a first. I really like how this turned out, so I may do more of this in the future! I still couldn't resist sprinkling some sticker love on the pages.
