Home Sweet Home in my Carpe Diem Planner
Home Sweet Home in my Carpe Diem Planner

Howdy friends, it's Layle here, marketing director at Carpe Diem.  Today I'm sharing an in depth look at a Home planner I set up last year.  Below you'll see how I've approached the Home Planning 'stuff'!

After setting up the month I added the Home Insert Set to my planner along with the Home Doc It Journal to really start getting our home life organized.  You guys!  The Home Insert Set is the bomb & I'm not just saying that because I have to! :)  Seriously, it has EVERYTHING you need to set up a home planner!

Decorative dashboards, a pocket, three full sticker sheets, 6 tabbed dividers AND inserts for the dividers including menu plan, bill payment checklists, budgets, to do lists and more.

This sweet insert (included in the set) is at the start of my planner :)

The pocket is perfect for coralling the receipts, bills, etc that always seem to be floating around our house.  I added the 'get stuff done' card to the front of the pocket - that needs to be my mantra!

I made this functional, reusable To Do list from another card from the SN@P! Pack and Vertical 4x6 Pocket Page.  I punched the extra holes, inserted the card in the pocket to create a dry erase board, of sorts, & then used a WET erase marker to write my list on top of the pocket page.  I emphasized a wet erase marker vs dry - after several attempts, I found that the dry erase was geting streaked as this was a heavily used area of my planner; wet insures the writing will stay until I'm ready for it to come off.  As I complete things, I can take a damp paper towel to 'erase' an item and then add another in its place.

The tabbed dividers in the insert set have me super excited!  I added stickers from the HOME A5 Sticker Tablet to label them.  I have all kinds of ideas of what I'm going to include in each of the sections.  But the one I am MOST excited about is the Menu Plan -

First off, how stinkin' cute is the divider?!  'What's for dinner?' - heard repeatedly, every night of the week, every week of the year, year in and year out.  Am I right?!

I added the Menu Plan inserts included in the Insert Set.  And guess what, those Menu Inserts are also sold separately so you can have plenty to keep planning your menus :)

I don't know about you guys, but I feel like I'm constantly scratching my head, trying to come up with a menu for the week.  With these Menu Inserts, I can keep these sheets from week to week and store them in another planner - possibly with the Recipe Inserts!  When I'm sitting down on Sunday to plan the menu for the week, I can grab the past menus and just use those.  HOORAY!!  Can't wait to start doing that.  I'm all about making life easier :)

The last thing I put together as I strive to get things more organized is this spread in the Home Doc It Journal.  I love use Travelers Notebook 'style' notebooks like this for my lists - if you know me, you know how I love my lists!  I'm a big list maker/follower, & if I can cuten them up while I'm making them, why not?  This list, inspired by the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, hits all of the main areas I need to 'purge' in our house.  As I tackle these areas, I'll continue using the journal to keep notes, track progress, etc

The best thing? It slides right in the back pocket of my planner - that way I always have it with me!

So there you have it!  I'm feeling pretty motivated to get the rest of those dividers set up & start tackling that hefty To Do list!
