Plan A Colorful Life!
Plan A Colorful Life!

Hi, it’s Cara today with a colourful, happy TN setup! I was immediately drawn to the Oh Happy Day! collection with it’s bright, sunny colours. Spring is here and the birds are singing and the world is full of colour and I wanted to carry that into my planner. I’m going to be using this planner more for planning events and projects that I have coming up this spring rather than my daily to-do’s and appointments.

I chose the soft colour of the Typewriter Circles Traveler's Notebook because I wanted a neutral-dish background to let the colours of the collection really pop.

The pockets were so fun to decorate! With chip board pieces, stickers and die cuts, all from the Oh Happy Day! collection, I had more than enough pretty things to fill 5 TNs worth of pockets! These happy colours put a huge, goofy grin on my face every time I open up my planner.

I prettied up the kraft covers of two inserts, one lined and one with a dot grid. These will be great for note taking and for planning out my projects. There is no calendar insert since this is not going to be a daily planner, but rather one to help me stay organised for the many projects and events I’ve got going on in the next couple of months. I’ll talk more about that third insert in a second.

The insert covers are all papers from the Oh Happy Day! collection and I layered cards from the cut apart sheets, chipboard pieces, die cuts and stickers. The enamel dots are my favourite finishing touch to any paper project. One of the paper bow clips peeking through from one of the pages looks fab, it’s black and white polka dots contrasts well with the bright colours.

The third insert is a bit different and out of the ordinary, it is completely tailored to suit my needs for an event that I’m planning for June. I stole some pages from some other inserts. I literally ripped them out! GASP! Don’t worry, no inserts were harmed in the process. I carefully removed a few pages each from a daily insert and a weekly insert by slowly pulling out the middle pages. The original inserts can be used for another time, but I was able to mix and match the pages to create a custom insert with only the pages that I will need. A couple of weekly spreads leading up to the big day and then a daily spread for the day itself. Then another weekly spread for the review and clean up afterwards. It was hard to capture this in a photo, so keep an eye on my YouTube channel, I have a video explaining my process coming soon. You can subscriber here: Cara’s YouTube channel.

The moral here is: Don’t be afraid to customise your inserts to suit your needs. What you need from a planner is different than anyone else, so adapt it to suit you.

Inside this fabulous insert, I’ve decorated the first weekly spread. Lots of stickers here from Oh Happy Day! as well a few die cuts and a strip of washi along the bottom. I also added the dates from the Numbers Sticker Tablet and a few others from the Planner Basics Tablet. You can always find stickers in these tablets to match whatever Simple Stories collection that you are using!

I’ve concentrated the decoration on the 22nd, which is the day of my event. I don’t need a lot of room here because on the next page, I will have a whole daily page dedicated to this day. There will be tonnes of room to write and plan and decorate there.

I’ve got a process video coming on Monday for you, in the meantime, this planner features in my latest video which you can find on my YouTube channel here: Cara’s YouTube channel.

Happy planning!
